friend asked me:
Could it possibly be so easy? Read a couple of books, take them to heart, and become peaceful? Could a lifetime of issues, suffering, and angst disolve in a short time?
Surprisingly, yes, that's how it was for me. The personal work I did for 15 years set the stage, for sure, but
reading Eckhart Tolle's books "did the trick".
It was like flipping a switch. Maybe I was just ready so what he said resononated within me. It made sense...and meshed well with a Krishnamurti book I had just read.

Now, I have a framework. I'm practicing being present and aware. I'm incorporating conscienesss into my daily life. I'm looking at life in a different way...and the results are amazing! I have moments of awareness, peace, even joy!
A corner has been turned and every day brings new and interesting experiences.
Now that fear, boredom, and worry are no longer the favorite activities of my mind…I have so much extra time for relaxing, creating, and actually doing the things I was always railing against.
Here are the books I found most helpful.

A Framework for Joy Wow! A life-changer! If you read just one book... A New Earth should be it. For more depth, I suggest following up with The Power of Now .

A Great Follow-on Book I liked reading The Power of Now after A New Earth . It was published first, but I think it's more powerful as a follow-on book.

Krishnamurti on Joy When I read Krishnamurti's teachings about joy, I began to "get it". The First and Last Freedom is beautifully written and points the way to finding joy.

Where it All Began A very gifted massage therapist gave me a copy of The Celestine Prophecy in 1993. A new world of energy-based relationships opened up to me. I still re-read it every few years.

Next… Then she gave me Ishmael . Our paths have not crossed for many years, but Sandra W., thank you for starting me on the journey. Ishmael gripped me and never let go.
