very day starts with an
inspection tour of my garden.
I must see which of my friends grew during the night, who wilted, who passed on to the next life after being eaten by a caterpillar or walking stick. I know every stalk and every leaf.
We have a nice relationship: I take care of them - water, feed, weed, and fuss over. They give me beauty, oxygen, tranquility, and a constant reminder of the magnificence of the creative force.

I highly recommend gardening to everyone looking to experience joy. Whether it's a geranium on a windowsill, a pot garden on a balcony (like mine), or a back yard with lots of space, the experience of mothering (or fathering) a bunch of plants can be truly joyful.
I love to sit for a few minutes on my white plastic lawn chair, let the morning sun shine on my face, breath deeply, meditate, and get quiet.
HInt: get some scented plants - there's nothing like getting a whiff of jasmine, mint, dill, narcissus, or lavender. |
